THERE IS A KEY TO HEAVEN. AND IT'S A SURE THING. ARE YOU GAME TO FIND OUT WHAT IT IS?

THE ULTIMATE SPIRITUAL TOOL IS HUMILITY

As we enter now into Holy Week, 2026 looking at it now through the perfect lens of "humility," below will be an ongoing daily entry through the days of March 29, Sunday, to April 4/5aturday Easter Vigil and Sunday of the Resurrection - a new chaplet of "The Humiliations of Jesus Christ - Holy Week" will be developed and be completed on Holy Saturday and published just before the Easter Vigil is celebrated here at monastery chapel.  [A more comprehensive/complementary General Chaplet of Humiliation will be developed during the week after Easter - The Easter Octave - and launched on Divine Mercy Sunday - the Sunday after Easter.

Be blessed by this, and once again, if you are so moved by the Holy Spirit go to the Contact page and make a donation to the JSC by Zelle, Venmo or Cash App.

CHAPLET OF HUMILIATION - HOLY WEEK
PALM SUDAY: THE "TRIUMPHAL ENTRY" into JERUSALEM

Scripture: "And when he entered Jerusalem the whole city was shaken and asked, "Who is this?" And the crowds replied, "This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth."

Meditation: "The whole city was shaken!" Perhaps it was a real earthquake: a geological response to the entrance of the very Creator and Lord of everything!  Or, it was a seismic supernatural, spiritual event, similar to the opposite reaction 33 years prior,  when the earth stood still no doubt for an instant in that silent, starry night in rural Bethlehem when the Eternal Word of God took its first breath as one of his own creations, a human one, a beloved one, a baby boy!
So now in stark contrast, the Suffering Servant (the grown-up baby in the manger), rides into the City of Jerusalem, first on the ass (the mother donkey), and then on its foal, it colt, its child, which is strengthened by simply being near its mother. I see a foreshadowing of Mary's future role not only as Mother of the Savior, but also Mother of the Redeemed, our Mother who strengthens us and nudges us on to follow her Son, Jesus.

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, so that all my thought, all my work and all my deeds may come from a place of holy nothingness, as did Mother Mary's, so that all the credit and the glory goes, as it should, to God the Father, as it always has been, is now and will be forever. Amen.

Personal Application: First thing in the morning, in your "inner room," literally get down on the floor, in as much of a bowed position that you can possibly get in: and for a slow 30 count: count on your fingers - say: "I am nothing! I am nothing! I am nothing..................... 30 of these............and then be very still and chances are very good that the Holy Spirit will take over your day in very unexpected ways. Stay in the position for about 2 minutes of GRATITUDE for the HUMILIATION of being squat down on the floor! I recommended doing this every day, every one, going forward!!

MONDAY OF HOLY WEEK: THE INTITUTION OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST / ORDINATION OF FIRST PRIESTS
Scripture: For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.[b]

Meditation: Three things happen here: 1) the humiliation of becoming bread and wine; 2) the unimaginable empowerment and humiliation of the 12 Apostles to carry on this transubstatiative miracle until the end of time; 3) the foretelling that there will be another time and another place where this meal we are celebrating now will itself be transformed into the Wedding Reception Feast after the Marriage between the Groom, Christ the Lord, and his Church - all those who are not ordained priests. The time of humiliation will have ended and the time of unbridled JOY, and PEACE will commence, and last without end.

Amen.

Personal Application: If you are a bishop or priest reading this know that you share in the astounding miraculous power to produce in your own consecrated hands the very living, self-sacrificial heart tissue of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Eucharistic miracles tell us this is so and is proven scientifically! The Simon in you must be crushed by your prayerful desire for it to be so, the Peter in your needs to marvel at the supernatural world in which you are now a part. If you are a lay Catholic: rejoice, you are the Bride of Christ and at the Wedding Feast to come, will participate in the marital embrace beyond all imagining and the seeds of eternal life will be sown into you: and then the feasting will begin. Bow down then in adoration, praise, honor, worship and glory to the HOST of ETERNAL SALVATION! Amen. Amen.

TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK: THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN
Scripture: 39 He advanced a little and fell prostrate in prayer, saying, “My Father,[e] if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.” Mt. 26:39

Meditation: The onslaught of the "Night of Passion" beyond all other nights begins. Jesus takes his three closest friends, Peter, James and John to the Mount of Olives just after he ordained them as Priests and presided over the First Mass with them and personally gave them Holy Communion for the first time: the Communion of Humiliation and Triumph. He wanted "attentive nearness" from them as he "went over yonder to pray to his Heavenly Father." What did they do: they broke the dynamic of attentiveness: they fell asleep. Jesus assess his entire situation with the Father, and says: "OK Father, here we go: I WAS BORN FOR THIS! I WAS BORN TO DIE BY MEANS OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE NEXT 18 hours. BUT WOW, Father, the entire weight of human sinfulness, which I NOW at this MOMENT take into me, IT'S BEYOND HORRIFIC! If you could think of another way to reconcile them, I would appreciate it, BUT YOUR WILL FATHER, ALWAYS YOUR WILL BE DONE!" and it was done that way!

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, so to console you, dear Master, so I can be attentively near you as you 'go through with it' at the Father's bidding. Let me share in your Passion in any way, shape or form that you would have do: it will be perfect, because each of our humiliations is custom made, lovingly sent, and providentially looked after! Thank you wounded Lord, for everything! Amen.

Personal Application: I attended the Chrism Mass last night at the Cathedral in Richmond, VA. It was quite the "show of supernatural Presence and Power" - the Power of the Priesthood of Jesus Christ in which I share. I was thinking how 50 years ago I was ordained in that very edifice, as if it were a "different ordination" a contemporary one, but last night it became clear that at the Last Supper when Jesus said: "Do this in memory of me!" that was the moment of ordination, the ONE ORDINAITON, INTO THE ONE PRIESTHOOD, FOR ALL AGES AND TIMES, so my ordination was into the ONE PRIESTHOOD OF JESUS CHRIST as it existed at that very moment and that table where it all began. And last night i, along with about 60 or 70 of my brother priests who were present renewed the very promises we made originally at our own ordinations - at the prompting of our current bishop! It was truly humbling and awesome! Pray for me, pray for all priests, that in these urgent times of stress and distress we may "get out of our own way" and let Jesus FLOOD THE MARKET with his love, his grace, his mercy, his compassion, his forgiveness and the FOOD OF HIS OWN BODY and BLOOD which, actually, has scientifically been proven as "living heart tissue of a man, under a great deal of physical pain and trauma" Yes, we eat the "alive, living tissue of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

WEDNESDAY OF HOLY WEEK: THE TRIAL BEFORE PILATE
Scripture:  When it was morning,  all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel* against Jesus to put him to death. 2They bound him, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate, the governor. Mt. 27:1.

Meditation: Preceding the trial of Jesus, was the ultimate betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot, who "spied for a way" to hand Jesus over to the righteous religious leaders. He secretly made a deal with them to do so in the Garden on the Mount of Olives, in exchange for 30 pieces of silver. So today, we go to the secret places inside ourselves where we daily "make deals with the devil himself" to accomplish this or that tiny, minute, almost invisible sins, that really are not so invisible after all. So, when Jesus stands before Pilate, he engages with all of us, who gaze at "The Man" "who woud be King of the Jews" - crowned with a diadem of thorns, and give a stick, a rod, a mock sign of authority? NOT - he IS ALL THESE THINGS! but in a meek, mild, gentle, humble, silent way!

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, as you begin now to embrace all that is broken and sinful in me, and all my brother and sisters in humanity. Let me feel today from inside out what it was like for you to be misjudged, misunderstood and misled, to a Cross to be murdered for me and my sins. Help me to understand that the humiliations I will go through this day, all, likewise have a purpose: to willingly participate in your humiliations, and to strengthen the very core and fiber of humility in me that is absolutely necessary for entering the Kingdom prepared for me. Amen.

Personal Application: I must keep constant guard on all of my actions, my words, my thoughts. If they do not operate fully and clearly through the lens of humility, then they are false, fake and to be avoided. The particular examen is a way to do this at least twice a day if not more. Keep a little notebook of your faults, failure and foibles that have anything to do with pride at all - bring these to the penitential rite at Mass, and or to confession as soon as you can!

HOLY THURSDAY: THE SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR
Scripture:  Then Pilate took Jesus and had him scourged.

Meditation: This is such an incredibly stark and almost inconspicuous statement. We so often rush right past these words in Holy Scripture. but what an incalculable error that is. For in that one word resides all the sins of the flesh that ever were committed, were being committed at that moment, and would be committed until the end of time: that would include yours sins and mine, against the flesh, against God's plan, against God's order for the human body. We think of grave sexual sins in this category, but i would go so far as to say the truly demonic obsession by men and women of all ages now to write all over their bodies with tattoos as if it were a coloring book and not a temple of the Holy Spirit: a very Tabernacle of the Most High. The church has no official teaching on this practice, but I think it ought to have one. It is sacrilegious. And so, this holiest of all human bodies is literally, brutally, maliciously and gleefully shredded in a drawn-out episode that would turn the stomach of any human being who even has a shred of sense or sensibility. Our sins of the flesh did this.

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, as you begin now to embrace all that is broken and sinful in me, and all my brother and sisters in humanity. Let me feel today even the slightest iota the pain of this fleshly mangling and let me resolve never to sin again using my body in any way that does not respect the dignity that is built right into it, as created in the image and likeness of God the Father himself. Shame on us! We are so sorry Lord, please accept our desire to even desire to do better in this area. Amen.

Personal Application: It is not only what we put on our bodies, but also what we put into them that either respects or disrespects the Creator and Redeemer of it, let me resolve to treat my body always as a graced vehicle of my salvific journey to the Kingdom!

GOOD FRIDAY: CRUCIFIED NAKED
Scripture:  So they took Jesus, 17 and carrying the cross himself[g] he went out to what is called the Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus in the middle. - Jn 19: 16-19

Meditation: There are no words to describe the ferocity, and venom, and anger and hostility the Jewish people and the Romans displayed in the bitter Crucifixion scenario that plays out before us today. The charge against him: zero. There were no real and legitimate charges, the charges that demanded the "death sentence" were false, yet binding in the court of law that Jesus underwent under both Herod, and Pilate. Jesus was "innocence personified" and he was God's own Goodness, Compassion, Mercy, Forgiveness and Friendship all become flesh: and the PRIDE OF HUMANITY ever since Adam and Eve could not coexist with such GOODNESS, and so the plot was carried out and WE MURDERED HIM, but a form of crucifixion that I believe was unprecedented in its cruelty, its severity and its finality.  On the Cross he hung at street level stark naked, because he had to resemble the First Adam in his original created state, and the "humiliation of humiliations" was played out: GOD, DIED! for your sins and for mine!

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, I am filled from inside out with shame, and with disgust at my own sins, that not only brought about your death, but what I am overwhelmed with sorrow over is that I continue to carry them out, daily. They all emanate from the SIN OF PRIDE, and it is only by imitating your voluntary and willful act of self-sacrificial-surrender God the Father's Will, in profound actions, thoughts and prayers of humility, that you can "lift me up to your Heart," as you promised you would. I beg you for absolution for all my sins and my resolve it to get to Confession at least once per week - to keep the channels of grace open, and the Blood and Water which poured out of your traumatized heart - flowing through me to cleanse me, heal me and love me. Amen.

Personal Application: I will prostrate myself on the floor of my house, my office, my chapel, my church - anywhere (if only symbolically), and beg for salvation - and i will do it daily from now on.

HOLY SATURDAY: BURIED IN AN OBSCURE TOMB
Scripture:
Matthew 27:57-61
57 Now when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. 59 When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb and departed. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting [a]opposite the tomb.

Meditation: Two days ago, Jesus symbolically, at the Last Supper with his Apostles "gave it all away" - in funneling his entire being into the unleavened bread at the fourth cup of wine. Symbolically announcing that the next day, yesterday, Friday April 3, 33 - he would literally do the same thing with him physically - give it all away in the murder of GOD. And He did! When he was dead maybe at 3:33pm he was removed from the cross and placed in an obscure borrowed tomb - by a secret Jewish follower, Joseph of Arimathea. Not even in death did Jesus cling to anything at all, not even the stone-cold slab on which he lay in death.

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, as I reflect on the nothingness with which you lived your human life: you who were GOD / MAN. You completely "set aside in your human experience the GOD part and lived fully as one of us! You were basically now a beaten, battered, shredded, mangled nobody special to the Jews and the Romans tucked away now in a hole in a rock: but, wait there is more........ (wait til tonight and the Easter Vigil, there is definitely more....

Personal Application: Unless i embrace my own nothingness in all humility, there is no chance I like the good thief will see Paradise. ROOT OUT IN ME MY DEAREST LORD ALL SEMBLANCED OF PRIDE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - grace me with the cooperation necessary to become truly, really humble! Thank you, LORD, thank you!

EASTER SUNDAY:THE CONSEQUENCE OF HUMILIATION
Scripture:
Matthew 28:5-6
And the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.”

Meditation: Today we have the power, at last to understand and to comprehend, in the heart, the eternal consequence of "going to the mat" with humiliations that come to us: the ultimate humiliation of death by murder was reversed in 16 billionths of a second by the Father and Spirit of Divine Word that did not die, could never die, and the human nature of the Son of God/Son of Man was jettisoned into the ultimate version of what it was always meant to be: full of natural/supernatural and preternatural gifts beyond comprehension. This was the consequence of the Will to Love, the Will to Peace, the Will to share eternal life in a heavenly experience that our feeble minds cannot grasp: but now: by grasping our feebleness willingly, and lovingly, we too can be raised up to the heights of sanctity, the "sanctity of the humble!" - after the example of our Lord, our Master, our King, our Friend: JESUS OF NAZARETH!

Prayer: My beloved Lord and Master, "meek and humble of heart." My prayer is that my heart be absorbed into Yours, as I rejoice exultantly in the newness of life you willingly share with us now.  On Easter night you just materialized in the Upper Room with its locked doors: and the first word out of your mouth in Risen state to your cowering apostles was: "Peace" "Peace, guys! I get it. You were afraid! But then he breathed on them and said: "Receive the Holy Spirit, if you forgive men's sins they are forgiven!" And the third major sacrament of the Church was instituted: The Great Sacrament of Reconciliation and Peace! Thank you so very very much! Lord! Thank you! Amen. Alleluia!

Personal Application: As a priest I am so exceedingly humbled to administer this great sacrament to any who ask it of me, as a sinful human being myself, I use this great sacrament quite often. I vow to keep up that practice until my dying breath! Please pray for me!  - Fr. Bill
